Phurbu N Lama

I was born and raised in a remote village in Nepal, where I completed my intermediate-level education despite limited resources. In pursuit of greater opportunities, my family and I later moved to Kathmandu, where I continued my studies and earned my associate degree. Motivated to further advance my education and career, I immigrated to the United States, where I completed my bachelor’s degree, passed the CPA exam, and have been an accountant for over 22 years.

Growing up in a minority and underserved community gave me firsthand insight into the challenges of accessing quality education and essential resources. This experience has had a lasting influence on my perspective and continues to guide my commitment to supporting young people in meaningful and impactful ways. I was introduced to DB4N through a friend who supports its collaborative learning center for high school students in Nepal. Its mission closely aligns with my values, which inspired me to become involved.

Outside of my professional and community work, I enjoy hiking, trekking, and traveling. I am especially passionate about exploring new places, experiencing diverse cultures, and learning from people around the world.
