The Will To Give Back
A love of homeland and humanity was the spark for our Collaborative Learning Environment Center in Jomsom. Mr. Nabin Sherchan, who has been living in New York with his family, owns a business in the heart of the city. He believed that his hometown deserved an extra step in advancing education for the newer generation which was not the case when he was a student. His nephew Bikal Sherchan, who is also a Jomsom project champion, introduced DB4N to the Janahit Ex-Student Association (JESA). This was only the beginning of a beautiful co-creation in Jomsom.
JOMSOM SCOUTING TRIP MARCH 27, 2022
The Digital Bridges For Nepal team set out on a scouting trip to Jomsom with an early morning flight. The team was welcomed upon their arrival by our project champion Bikal Sherchan, who is also an ex-student of the high school. The school principal and teachers were equally welcoming. The school principal and School Management Committee assisted with us modifying the room to fit the CLEC design.
In the evening, the team held a meeting with the school management committee and the mayor about our CLEC projects, which turned out to be productive for all. A MoU and pre consensus papers were signed by the end of the day. The Gharapjhong assured a smooth installation and running of the project, which was indeed helpful throughout the installation process.

The training was given by the DB4N team (Prakash and Nitesh) with the guidance from DB4N president, Mr. Edmond Antoine. The CLEC teacher onboarding sessions were held for 9 days. During the sessions, teachers also carried out classes for the community leaders and staff from local government. The teachers were knowledgeable and supportive which set an example as one of the most beautiful and well-managed CLECs.
The students were very amazed and anxious about the structure of the CLEC room. They were really participative and eager to learn in the CLEC. According to students, the collaborative learning method used in the CLEC room is very effective and productive in the learning style. They were confident that they would use the room for their upliftment in education.

In the meeting, we discuss about the performance of the both teachers and students in the CLEC room and also if there is any technological issues in the room. We had prepared a students attendance sheet for the CLEC room that will be used to measure the impact of the CLEC at the end.
