​SHREE PRAKASH JYOTI HIGHSCHOOL

CLEC Thonche is very special to us. So many reasons to keep this project close to our hearts, but this being the first ever project co-incepted with a community, is our favorite reason. We are extremely grateful to Ghyalsumdo Sewa Santha (GSS) for having faith in us and our mission to reduce technological and educational gaps in rural Nepal. We had our meeting with GSS regarding the project, and our champion Rapke Lama took the lead and decided that it was time to give back to their homeland in Nason. ‘Giving back to the community where you belong’ was the concept behind co-creating a CLEC with a community.

The journey of this project has been roller-coaster. Like the pandemic was not enough to create a delay on the delivery of the project, Nason faced a huge flood that destroyed lives and properties in the area. We saw this as an urgency and felt the need to deliver the project despite everything.

​Oct 28, 2021 to Oct 30

The Chairman of DB4N (Nepal team), Mr. Jhabindra Kumar Subedi and Coordinator Mr. Prakash Shrestha visited Shree Prakash Jyoti High School, Thonche, on October 28, 2021 for the first time. It was an 8 hours’ drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar by taxi and 5 hours’ drive by jeep from Besisahar to Nason.  The road conditions were extremely hazardous due to the floods and landslide in Manang district. 

​They were accompanied by Mr. Thuten Lama, the chairman of the School Management Committee and Mr. Padmaraj Panthy, the school principal. They introduced our team to the teachers, students, and Mayor of Nason Rural Municipality. We received letter of recommendation from the school and ward office with their help.

​Delivery and Installation Trip
December 22, 2021

In December 22, 2021, a team of five members was created to deliver the furniture and equipment in the school. The team included a technician from equipment supplier, community outreach coordinator, furniture supplier and cab driver and it was led by Prakash.

​The team reached Thonche after 14 hours of tedious drive and safely delivered all the equipment. It was no piece of cake because of the road conditions. However, the team installed everything in the school the very next day. 

​We are very proud of our team. From the initial phase to the delivery of the project, everything was an adventure. Although we planned to handover the project in 2021, we were pushed back due to many conditions. Yet, it did not shake our determination even a bit. We will be launching the CLEC in April 2022. 

​​Orientation and Launch
March 21, 2022

​We celebrated the grand opening ​of our Nason Rural Municipality CLEC  in the presence of the Mayor, Vice Mayor, School Management Committee President, the School Principal , CLEC trained lead teachers, and the President of DB4N, Edmond Antoine. Our Digital Bridges For Nepal team with Prakash Shrestha and Nitesh Prasai, with support of DB4N President and Founder who lead the onboarding and training process.
