Nabin Serchan - Board Member
DB4N President, Ed Antoine, met Nabin in 2018 and he and his family have been supporters of the organization ever since. Nabin’s wife, Sharmila, is a famous chef who was formerly trained in European cooking and also learned the local Nepali cuisine and cooking methods through her family using herbs from the Thakali region which is a high plateau close to Tibet. Sharmila, along with French chef Laetitia of famous Alain Ducasse restaurant Benoit in Manhattan, helped co-create French Nepali appetizers for DB4N’s first fundraising dinner that was organized in 2019.
Nabin provided great support for that first fundraising dinner for Nepali community leaders as well and initiated the first two CLECs by bringing Mr. Rapke Lama from the Ghyalsumdo Sewa Sanhsta who was able to engage his Nepali association to engage a project for their homeland region in the Manang district. Nabin was then able to spearhead his own CLEC project in Jomsom, Mustang, with help of his family and friends
Nabin is a successful restaurateur in Jackson Height, NY, where he and his wife own the famous Thakali Kitchen restaurant. He was been a great supporter, lending not only his time and knowledge but providing space and delicious snacks to our guests on occasion for DB4N meetings.
